On November 15, 2012 FX ordered a 13-episode third season of the series. Apparently they like that the "notion of doing an anthological series of miniseries with a repertory cast — has proven groundbreaking, wildly successful and will prove to be trendsetting."

And here is a bit more from Murphy, the horse's mouth (taken from the Episode 7 interview):
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: You got greenlit for a season three so does that mean you have a plot already for it? RYAN MURPHY: Yes. I do. I have an idea and I went to Jessica and she was very excited about the idea and possibly where it would film and how we would make it. I did the same thing last year—we almost work a year ahead. It’s a very dense script and it’s a lot of prep time. I do—I know what next year is.
Last year, Billie Dean gave that speech in the finale about asylums, which was a clue to this season. Are you planning on putting clues in the finale this year? I think so. We haven’t decided what lead actors are coming back. I know what it is and I know that there will be clues in the final episode. Last year we didn’t announce what it was about—we waited til the summer to do it. I think we’ll announce it earlier this year.

At the first of the year, Murphy hinted that a clue about the third season would be hidden in the tenth episode of the second season. Click to read article. In a later interview discussing that episode, he stated: "I sorta feel like for the third version I want to do something that's a little bit more 'evil glamour.' Just something that's a little bit more...one of the things that I missed this season was I really loved having that Romeo and Juliet youth story with Violet and Tate [from the first season]. I want something like that again and we're doing something like that in the third season. And we're contemplating shooting the show in a different place. We're contemplating shooting it in a place in the country where true horror has been." Click for second article. So, did y'all catch the hint? It would've been short as in dialogue or a song. Some onliners want a New Orleans voodoo setting, from the "I Put A Spell On You" song that Mary played for Judy With A Number. I too wondered whatthehell that song and its meaning was about. The devil doesn't do "spells." He makes ya think certain things and causes things to happen, but not in spells. As for the NOLA location, I still remember "Interview w/ A Vampire" so that's still fresh and been done. Plus, RM said "We're contemplating shooting it in a place in the country." That's not NOLA, unless they do a plantation thing. And I most certainly will click off a Gothic Vampire season! Still, I believe Evan Peters and Taissa Farmiga will be together again. They will both be old enough next year to be a couple on their own and live alone out in the country. Thoughts?
